Most of the active business minds in Apia are all here in this photo, representing most of the local business groupings

If you want to learn about how to literally grow your small business, come to the Pacific Regional Small, Medium and Micro-Enterprises SAMME Forum this week, at Aggie Grey’s Beach Resort and SPA at Mulifanua.
There will be overseas business people sharing information and eager to network with counterparts on opportunities where they can work and benefit together.
This was the inspiring message on Friday by the grouping of the various private sector organizations represented by the Samoa Chamber of Commerce, in the lead up to the meeting next Tuesday from the 14th –16th of October.

‘Building Opportunities Together’ is the theme for the 3 day meeting that will bring together representatives from the private sectors in the Pacific Islands and from as far as Belgium.
There are actually two series of meetings, starting with the ‘Business Toolkits Phase II Follow–up Meeting scheduled in Apia from the 13th-14 of October before the main one scheduled at the out of town resort.
The meeting is to divided into short presentations by selected speakers, followed by group discussions on related themes of developments.
Among the main issues to be discussed is where the support is needed to make the ‘ enabling environment in Pacific Island Countries truly supportive of SAMME.”

SMMEs in a climate of economic change
written by Alec, October 16, 2008
What kind of support can SAMMEs expect in an era of economic openness in Samoa? With WTO membership pending, can there be an enabling environment for local small-scale (and community-based) industries to grow (e.g. Women in Business, and others)?
