The helicopter that will be flying around Samoa now.

The tourism industry, and the welfare of Samoan people is said to improve, thanks to a new helicopter service now available in the country.
Manulele Helicopter, is a new company that has been established in Samoa by pilot Richard Jones, and his wife Terry working in collaboration with Sina McDonald as she and her Late husband John McDonald are shareholders in the company.
Mrs. Jones explains that her husband has always ‘lived to fly’ and being able to help the Samoan people through this service is what he loves most about it.

Manulele will not only be used for tours around the islands at negotiable prices, but also for other purposes such as emergency rescues and fire fighting.
She guarantees that those who will be flying on the helicopter will be in safe hands.
“My husband has been flying for 37 years now and he has not had an accidents,” she says.
Richard Jones is originally from Nelson, New Zealand, he has worked in many different jobs associated with flying.
He started flying fixed wing airplanes at the tender age of 16, and he and his wife have lived in New Zealand from 1986 to 1998.
They then moved to Hawaii for nine years where Mr. Jones started flying tours around the island as well as doing utility work and firefighting there.
Mrs. Jones explained that the reason they came to Samoa was because of an initiative by the Late John McDonald a Samoan that was always involved in the tourism industry.
“We both felt that it was a great opportunity to bring it here as it can benefit the tourism industry, as well as for search and rescue, medical evacuation and firefighting.”
Mr. Jones is also adamant that it is important that Samoa has a helicopter to help transport people from Savaii to Upolu especially those who need to come to the hospital for immediate treatment.
According to the Director of Marketing for Manulele Helicopter, Janet McDonald Faumuina, (whom is also the daughter of the Late John McDonald) her father had been working on this project for a long time now.
“All his life he has worked in the travel industry, it is good to see that his dream has finally become a reality after so long.”
