NBS, 'exceptional' in Newsline bank review PDF Print E-mail

The recently introduced review column by Newsline for services in Samoa has given the National Bank of Samoa a rate of ‘exceptional’ in the recent service review and comparison.
The Review is conducted by Citizen X, who are random members of the public who are chosen to test the timing and quality of services provided in Samoa in various sectors.
Folowing is the Bank Review by Citizen X:

National Bank of Samoa
Citizen X had a cheque to cash from the National Bank of Samoa main headquarters in Apia. Citizen X walked briskly and happily to the bank at the ACP building, thrilled with the prospect of cash at hand. Citizen X walked into the bank at about 2pm on Tuesday and was surprised to see that there were only two people on the queue. Citizen X stood in line for about five minutes before a good cheerful cashier waived their hand over to the Citizen. “Come over here,” the teller said in a nice voice when it came to Citizens turn. “How are you doing today,” the teller asked Citizen, “fine thanks” Citizen said. The teller continued on small but cheerful talk, meanwhile the transaction was being conducted in a very professional manner. The transaction took all but 3 minutes and 32seconds according to Citizens timing. After Citizen was given the cash, Citizen thanked the teller. The teller said: “Manuia le aso.” Citizen X walked away happy.
Timing: Excellent
Personnel: Excellent
Overall Service Rating: Exceptional

ANZ Bank Samoa Ltd
Citizen X was short of cash on a Friday, so headed for ANZ Bank to take some out of the account that Citizen had there for more than five years. Citizen picked a number from the fancy looking machine that spat out ticket numbers. Citizen saw the number it was over 300 for General telling. Citizen decided to sit down, it looked like it was going to be a long wait. Citizen waited for about 24 minutes, Citizen was hungry and needed to get out, but just then, the number blinked on the digital screen. Citizen smiled: “Murphys law.” Citizen thought. Approaching the counter, Citizen was met with a stern looking teller. Citizen handed over the withdrawal slip, after about 6 minutes and a few seconds, the transaction was done. Although Citizen X would have appreciated the smile, the teller was efficient and professional.
Timing: Poor
Personnel: Good
Overall Service Rating: Good

Westpac Bank Samoa Ltd
Citizen X needed to cash some money from the account at Westpac. Citizen X stood in line on a Monday afternoon. Citizen stood in line for 14 minutes, enjoying the well open space in Wespac and shelter from the rain outside. After ten minutes, Citizen was a bit tired of standing, but Citizen soldiered on until a counter was free. The teller updated Citizens bank book, conducted the transaction and managed to say hello, share a joke and wished Citizen a good day. Citizen felt good after that, and of course Citizens wallet was a little heavier, so that helped a lot.
Timing: Good
Personnel: Excellent
Overall Service Rating: Good
