Samoalivenews.com the online edition of Newsline Samoa Newspaper is setting the pace for news websites from the Pacific.
This is according to Communications Advisor for UNESCO Mr. Abel Caine during a meeting in Port Moresby Honiara last month.
Caine said it was imperative for Pacific journalism schools to prepare for the internet age and to make use of web-based technologies to develop education strategies.
He cited Newsline Samoa website www.samoalivenews.com as “an innovative media news organisation setting the pace in the South Pacific with a low-cost and highly interactive format.”
Currently Samoalivenews is the most up to date website from Samoa, updating stories up to the minute of events.
It is the only news website that has a You Tube video channel, a live streaming radio channel and a Bebo profile for a more interactive approach.
Samoalivenews is a joint initiative between Samoalive website and Newsline Samoa Newspaper.

Great job well done!
written by Samasoni Nafatali, June 21, 2008
What a great job well done guys. This is a ground breaking intiative which maximises technological communication to reach Samoans in all corners of the globe. What a way to connect or do net-working with others. Good to see those living in other parts of the world responding to and communicating about the local news. We are able to hear from those who are doing great jobs presumably in countries like Iraq, Finland, Germany, Brazil and US.
The style of journalism is nothing negative but largely positive, relfecting a sense of aura about the website. Almost live updates on events help those like myself living remotely from cities where our people reside. Perhaps my wife would get to visit it more often to avoid feeling homesick. I enjoy reading Pio Sioa's reports of events where he injects a bit of humour when it needs to. Keep up the good works guys and God bless.
