Living in Hawaii you would think we would have seen the gamut of beautiful beaches..............but then there's Vavau and it is absolutely stunning. It truly is our favorite beach in the world. When we were there in Nov., we spent days on the beach at Vavau knowing it would never be the same again. Sad to see progress come in and change it.

I hope Vavau village do not regret it later allowing this kind of change in the village. Probably the root cause is the money but remember it all came with a huge packages problems.

Vauvau beach look great with only them beach fale but now they will built one resort there....what a waste.....such a peaceful place to go to and relax and enjoy the sound of the waves...and yes its really sad what the government is doing....they allow this outside bussiness coming in and ruin the great rainforest and the beaches we have....
Rights to the beach

I have a question on rights to Vavau Beach after the hotel is built. Once the Hotel is up and running will the Samoan public have access to that beach? Even though the natural beauty of the setting will be altered, it would be a shame if the public was denied access. In Hawaii the state owns up to the high tide mark making all beaches open basically to the public.

If they do allow the public to go in ..then we have to pay a fee....like all the other beaches and sightseeing in Samoa.....not like hawaii..we don't have to pay any fee to go to the beach
Paradise Lost

We stayed at Vavau in 2006 while on holiday from Australia. I don't think people realise the importance of retaining the simple beauty of places like Vavau. If we want the Warwick we can go anywhere, but places like Vavau are a rare treasure that need to be preserved.
