“Consumer satisfaction is important to us.”

MP from Faleata i Sisifo, Lealailepule Fepulea’i Rimoni Aiafi

A local wholesaler, who also operates as a retailer has hit back at claims made under Parliamentary privilege by the MP from Faleata i Sisifo, Lealailepule Fepulea’i Rimoni Aiafi.
Lealailepule told Parliament that such businesses ruined small retail shops around the country.
The MP said when there is shortage of wholesale products such as rice or mutton flaps, these businesses stop selling these products to local retailers but instead sell it in their retail branches.
Lealailepule used Frankies as one of the businesses to back his claims.
Mr Frankie was contacted for a comment yesterday but he refused to draw himself into the issue.
“I’m sorry I have no comment on the issue,” he said. “I really don’t want to get involve in that sort of issue.
But the wholesaler who we spoke to under the condition that they remain anonymous for “business reasons” said their aim was not to kill business for small retailers.
“I think it’s unfair on us to be labeled out as that (ruining small retails shops),” the wholesale/retailer said.
“Our main concern is to provide our customers and people of Samoa with the service they need,” he said. “Competition is good for any business and that’s what we want to offer but most of all consumer satisfaction. That is important to us.”
The wholesaler/retailer said claims that they deliberately stop selling several products to retailers at times when the supply of such products run low were unfounded.
“Like I said our aim was to provide the best service and product to the public, if that is done through retailers around the country then we’re happy with it. But such claims are not true.”
