October 8th 2008, Apia: ANZ Managing Director Peter Johnson, Manager Products, Sales & Marketing, Mark Burns, Manager Sales & Marketing, Taumaia Kramer and Assistant Relationship Manager Nia Lole “The Shave for a Cause” team, today presented a cheque of $17,976.03 on behalf of Management and staff to the Samoa Victim Support Group.

The donation was made during ANZ’s annual “Blue Week” fundraising activities which ran from 15th – 19th September 2008.

ANZ Samoa’s donation will assist Samoa Victim Support Group with their daily necessities as well as education support and living expenses for the victims. “We are proud to be able to make a difference and give them hope for a better future. With the amount collected we believe we will be able to provide ongoing support over the next twelve months” Mr Johnson said.

Mr Johnson also acknowledged the Business and Local Community at large as well as the general public. “To everyone who donated during the week, whether old or young, you all contributed and made a huge difference in making this event a success. From the bottom of our hearts, ANZ Management and staff would like to wish each and everyone well, fa’afetai tele lava le aao mafola, fa’afetai tele le agalelei, thank you very much for your kindness and continuous support”.

He also acknowledged the support, by way of pledges, from friends and colleagues in New Zealand, Australia and other Pacific Islands. It has taken sometime to collect these pledges from overseas and hence there has been a delay before we could make the official presentation.

Activities during the Blue week consisted of:

Sausage sizzles, drinks for sale, blue muffin day, face painting for children, $1 a loop to win yourself a piggy bank, raffle ticket sales to win ANZ merchandise, fun-freebies, blue ice-cream sales, shave for a cause pledge sheets, blue donation boxes with clothes donated by staff and customers.

Spokes-person for Samoa Victim Support, Masoe Iosefa Tautua stated: “We are very grateful for the support ANZ has shown for the victim’s of Samoa (SVSG) we never expected this”.

ANZ handles all types of customer transactions and enquiries, with specialist staff to handle home loans, business lending and investments, foreign exchange, financial planning and insurance services.
