DISTRAUGHT MOTHER : Analeiseanoa Tuala, inside the HDU where her badly burned 17 year old daughter lies in pain beyond the curtins behind her.

Life for 17-year-old Francella Tuala of Solosolo village, spiraled into something hideous last Friday, in the split moment a flaming bottle thrown from a moving car struck her right shoulder and transformed the upper half of her body into a human fireball.
The Year 12 Leififi student raced around for help from fellow students around her at the time to put the fire out, instead they scattered in shock, seemingly helpless to respond to the frightening sight before them.
Francella’s two student friends, who had tried to keep up with her, heroically stepped in and hugged her in a brave attempt to put the fire out.
In doing so they too suffered burns but it was their brave effort that saved their friend.
This was the gist of the sequence of events the young student tried to recount through her pain on her High Dependency Unit bed at the Tupua Tamasese Meole Hospital to distraught mother, Analeiseanoa Tuala.
“My daughter’s life has changed completely from what has happened to her,” Ms. Tuala.
“All the skin on her body where the fire reached is all gone.”
Analeiseanoa and her husband, Rev. Anzac Tuala, are being buoyed by their faith and the support of their family, who have set up camp outside the HDU, anxious about one of their own.
Intermittent groans of pain kept coming from her bed as Ms. Tuala recounted the trauma her daughter went through and the pains she was suffering.
“Francella said she was waiting for the bus when she felt something hit her shoulder that felt like someone had poured water on her,” Ms. Tuala added.
“ She is badly disfigured and so down on herself she does not want to go to school anymore.”
Government is however ready to step in and ensure she receives specialised treatment overseas if necessary for her injuries.
Medical concern for now is to keep her injuries free of infection, which could result in added complications to her severe condition.
Police are now calling for support from the public, for information involving a white ‘taxi-like’ vehicle where the flaming ‘Molotov bomb’ was thrown.
The vehicle was allegedly driving around the bus stop before the incident.
Violence started from the area involving students reportedly between Don Bosco Institute, Avele and Leififi Colleges.
The Commissioner of Police, Papali’i Laurenese Neru paid a special visit to the victim in hospital and to commiserate with the family on Monday.

my heart breaks
written by simoli, May 02, 2008
My heart breaks to read of how the life of this young girl has suddenly come to a stop because of someone else's fault. Her education cannot continue for now. Her self confiedence will take years to be restored. The fear of going back to school is instilled in her mind. The pain had broken her soul and being to pieces that fear has overtaken her. The culprit or culprits of the molotov bombs crime cannot see nor feel what she is going through. I hope when they are caught, they will be shown photos of the result (Francella's burnt face and body) of their crimes and watch them break down as crying babies!!. Come to think of it, the culprits were aiming at no one in particular when they threw the molotov bombs, they were seeking attention by causing troubles!. So let them see any photos of Francells' burnt face and body because that is the attention they were asking for and then lock them up in a heated room for a very long time!!!.
