Fight After Drunken Prayer At Fugalei Market PDF Print E-mail
Written by Newsline Writers
Sunday, 15 June 2008
A scuffle took place at the Fugalei market yesterday after the leader of the evening prayers faltered over the citation of Psalm 23.
Witnesses say the man who is allegedly a Market administrator, seemed inebriated at the time of the prayer and ended up reciting the Psalms wrongly over the public address system.
“He made a mockery of the bible,” one angry eye witness told Newsline.
The witness says people did not stir during the prayer, until it ended. They rushed into the administration office to admonish the alleged drunk prayer leader.
Attempts to contact the Market administration were unsuccessful however more witnesses confirmed the incident did occur.
The evening prayer is a daily routine for market sellers, the market stops at 7pm every evening while one person selected by the management of the market, does the prayer.
