Lady Filifilia moored at the Matautu Marina  in preparations for the official launching on Monday.

Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese, is being closely linked to a whole new sector of development in the tourism industry, with the naming of the first luxury boat for sea cruise after her.
The Minister in charge of the Government venture, Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau, says the naming of the boat Lady Filifilia was a fitting gesture.
Masifono Filifilia is the good lady, of the current Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi.
“We’d like to think this is a good gesture to show respect for our first lady,” says the Minister of Works who is also responsible for the Shipping Corporation, that will be operating the boat.
She is the second person related to the highest political office in the country, to have a boat named after her.
The first was the late Susuga Salamasina, whom the inter-island vessel Queen Salamasina was named after.
She was the sister of the late Head of State, His Highness Susuga Malietoa Tanumafili II.
Current Minister of Women and Social Community, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, is one of the women honoured by having one of the Government boats named after.
The Lady Filifilia arrived in the country on Friday night after a weeklong sea journey from Cairns, Australia.
At the christening of the new cruise Ferry, MV Lady Filifilia on Monday, Hon. Tuisugaletaua A. Sofara Aveau highlighted the benefits of the initiative, Talofa Cruises, on the tourism industry.

“This will benefit the people through tourist revenues especially with the increase in employment,” says Tuisugaletaua.

This new service is one of the corporation’s long term development projects to support the government’s tourism development strategy and forms part of the corporation’s diversification program.

Lady Filifilia, will cruise around Upolu and to the small islands of Namua, Nuusafee, Manono, Apolima and Nuulopa for three days of the week with a single cruise to Savaii on Thursday.

On board Lady Filifilia Hon. Tuisugaletaua confirmed that there will be many activities and entertainment to keep the guests occupied on the cruise.

“There will be live Samoan entertainment and diving and other activities.”

It's awesome to hear that Samoa is having boat cruises smilies/cool.gif it's about time smilies/kiss.gif it surely would earn alot of revenue for the tourism industry. It is also one way of appreciating the beauty of the ocean and environment. I've seen and been on boat cruises (2hrs) in Honolululu; during the evenings are wonderful as you get to see the sunset and the island from a distance. They're called dinner cruises (buffet style) with polynesian entertainment and a live band (Hawaiian music). I hope this will be similar on Lady Filifilia. It is definitely a romantic and better way to enjoy the evening smilies/kiss.gif and for tourists smilies/cool.gif
