Palolo Time in Samoa

It is raining on an off in Apia. White Sunday is a few days away. Heads are giving that knowing nod again. Palolo time. The greenish, wriggly, wormish stuff are rising on the 20, 21 October for its first of two appearances for the year – the second is 18,19 November. Savaii is where the most determined palolo crowd will be headed next week, where they have the best spots like Sataua and Safotu along the northwestern side. The risings is always a guessing game. If you are in luck you could drag a full container home, otherwise you can always dash to other spots with your wallet. A bundle the size of a baby’s fist will set you back at least $10 if your luck at catching the stuff has changed. I especially liked seeing people asu the palolo into their mouths and seeing the palolo wriggle around..lol. First time I ever had palolo and I loved it.
