Course participants going through what they were taught in one week

Senior officials from selected Government Ministries, went through the ‘painful’ process last Friday of convincing their watchful Chief Executive Officers, that the cultural learning of the week was not wasted on them.
The weeklong exercise was a ‘last minute’ by the Internal Affairs Division of the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, as part of the activities to celebrate ‘Father’s Day.’
The officers pretended at the Pulenu’u House they were visiting a village where they proceeded to exchange formal salutations and greetings, in keeping with the culture.

Spokesman for the participants acknowledge the ‘bosses’ who were present.

This is part of the culture that many senior government officials dread when they are required by their job to visit with the villagers.
“This was really an intensive course for the participants because ideally it would taken 2 weeks, but we crammed everything into the one week,” Assistant Chief Executive Officer Maulolo Tavita of the Internal Affairs Division and course director explained.
The exercise was also a judgment day for the future of  such a course.
“It all depends,” Maulolo told Newsline.
“There is obviously a demand for it because we just sent off a letter on Friday before the start of the long weekend, and the turnout was pretty solid.”
The CEO’s from the Ministries of Health, Communications, Women and Community and the Attorney General were on hand to judge for themselves.
How these CEOs could judge when they too are badly in need of similar crash courses is another story that Newsline maybe prosecuted for reporting on.
