The election of Rev. Tavita Roma as the new Chairman of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa was both swift and unexpected. He was elected first as Deputy Chairman, at the start of the 2-week Malua annual general conference, to fill the vacant seat left by the late Rev, Atapana Alama. By Friday, he was the 2008-2009 Chairman, in keeping with the rules of succession in the church leadership. Rev. Roma commented briefly on his appointment when asked by Samoalivenes.com at the end of the conference.
