A Shovel Break Before RHD Battle PDF Print E-mail

Sometimes when the warring sides are busy digging into their trenches, it pays to deflect the attention away from concentrating the energy too much into thinking ahead to what is at stake.
In the times of yonder, men and sometimes women who will march to battle are used sparingly for menial tasks so they can conserve their physical energy.
Back in them days, when battled hardened Generals were shooting bows and arrows, they always made sure the soldiers are fed and looked after properly.

Mind you, we have all seen this in the movies. One does not have to spend days reading up in the history of warfare to learn about military tactics that prevailed at the time.
In our little RHD war looming before the birth of the little baby of peace, it is good to learn that what was done in times of ancient, still holds true today, although the services maybe performed differently.
Take for instance the jokes about the RHD that some of the independent MPs are spreading around to lighten up the anxious wait.
Popular MP Lealailepule has come up with a particularly vicious one that feels like a knee up the funny bone. It goes something like this; “ Several doctors were given the option of patients they wish to operate on. All seemed to favour one in particular who turned out to be an HRPP member. Asked why they were so keen on this patient, they were all in agreement. ‘There is hardly any work required on that one, because if you open him up there is no heart, no guts, no spine, no liver and no lungs to work on.”
According to MP Lealailepule, he has even the HRPP MP’s laughing.
Then there is the case of the media conference by the Prime Minister in his office last week, before the RHD Forum on Friday.
The PM was droning on about the benefits of Right Hand Drive cars, he got caught out when he said one of the benefits of the RHD, is that people living on the coastal lowlands could drive up into the hills and be saved from a tsunami.
The Newsline Editor, Cherelle Savaliolefilemu Jackson, immediately jumped in for the kill when she said; “ But Mr. Prime Minister, a LHD car can do the same thing!.” Not missing a beat the PM struck right back :” Have you ever carried a car up the hills?”
The absolute favourite to come out this week, was about the two-sided brain. It goes like this : A big public argument broke out about which was the better of this two-sided brain – the left hand side or the right hand side.
Those who rejected the Left Hand Side argued there was no right in it. Opponents of the Right Hand side, said there was nothing left in it.”
The argument continues.
So there you are folks! Some light snippets to deflect from the doom and gloom.
You can all now pick up those shovels and go back to digging out those trenches again.
