As you unwind for the Xmas holidays this year you could try and learn how to enjoy the social bookmarking of news items

A new trend is for websites to host stories and material that readers have added. They are called social media or bookmarking websites. If you find a story on samoalivenews.com that you think others around the world might find of interest, you can easily recommend it to other people by clicking on the sites or services mentioned at the bottom of each story.

You will find that there is a tag on the top right hand corner of each news item called Digg.

Digg:
When you "digg" it, a link to the story you recommend will be put on Digg.com so visitors to the site can read and then comment on the story and rate it for interest level.

There is also the following bar of icons at the bottom of each article which has a number of links

Reddit!Del.icio.us!Facebook!Slashdot!Netscape!Technorati!StumbleUpon!Newsvine!Furl!Yahoo!Ma.gnolia!Free social bookmarking plugins and extensions for Joomla! websites! title=

These links let you publish this article for other people to read elsewhere.

Some of the most popular are the ones we show at the bottom of each story; del.icio.us, Furl, Facebook, Slashdot, Netscape, Stumbleupon, Technocrati, Yahoo,Ma.gnolia,Newsvine and Reddit. Look for the links to them on this page.

NewsvineNewsvine! and RedditReddit! are similar.

del.icio.usDel.icio.us! is a place where you can keep your favourite bookmarks and share them with others so that people can discover new things.

Enjoy the Xmas carol
