There seems to be disagreement within the HRPP over whether the Independent Voters Roll will continue in existence or not. The PM has gone on record saying, “We are all Samoans and therefore the roll is no longer relevant.” Both MPs elected by Independent Voters have contradicted that statement. Good on you, guys. For the first time we see a welcome crack in the wall of the HRPP’s totalitarian authority.
These two MPs must tread very cautiously on the RHD legislation. It must be vividly clear to them, and even to the most politically naive parliamentarian, that this proposed change has absolutely no popular support. The only one who wants the change is the Prime Minister. If these two MPs support this law, they would definitely incur the wrath of their constituencies. In supporting this bill into law, they would discount their own self worth and the worthiness of the Independent Voters Roll to a negative value. I, for one, would never vote for either of them again. My name would be withdrawn from the Independent’s Voter’s Roll once and for all.
Parliamentarians are elected to represent their constituencies, not represent the PM. Get your act together, guys, and do the job you were elected to do or get off the playing field! Don’t forget we the people put you where you are and we the people can remove you just as easily.
Show us that you do have brains and that you do understand how frustrated the people are. We don’t want spineless MPs representing us in the Fono.
