Smokers Rightly Puffed PDF Print E-mail
Written by Pio Sioa

Nic Off! Yeah well what can a nicotine addicted cigarette smoker say to that?
Shunned, banished and condemned like a foul smelling member of the family, what will become of us?
Should we sneak away sheepishly like a broken down dragon, to blow smoke somewhere else, where it will do no one harm?
Are we school kids forced to slip into the bushes to smoke and behave like grownup adults?
Hang on a minute.  We are adults.  We can light up anytime and anywhere we want. Why should we have to listen to the Minister of Health tell us where or when we should be adults.
We are not like some bad smell of stale cooking left to linger in the kitchen.
Are we?
Er..ummm…if we are, then why are we any different from a woman who stinks because she had put on too much perfume?
The proposed legislation by the Minister of Health tabled last week in Parliament discriminates against body odors and should be protested against.
If smokers are going to be banned from public places, then all women who dabbled perfumes on their bodies should be herded together with the smokers.
As for all this talk about non-smokers at risk, it is their fault. They should stop following the smokers around to marvel at their intellectual depth.  Smokers are deep thinkers and they are usually putting their thoughts together when they take cigarette breaks.
Is it a crime for them to be attractive to the non-smokers?
The Minister of Revenue made a lot of sense when he touched on the economic benefits the smokers generate. Smokers keep a lot of people employed.
Shut down the British American Tobacco factory at Vaitele and the staff there will be twirling a different kind of smoke our Minister of Health will not want to be anywhere near.
Doctors and nurses in particular will be out of jobs if there are no sick smokers around for them to look after. Smoking is supposed to be responsible for all kinds of associated illnesses.
Maybe our doctors and nurses should take up smoking so they could  apply their special skills on themselves if there are no longer any sick smokers. Maybe they should start brushing up on anger management skills to keep their jobs.
There will be some very angry shop owners when sales of cigarettes come down.
Packets of cigarettes and cans of herrings  are probably the only two products almost all shop owners stock.  Deny them that and they are likely to be smoking from the ears.
Maybe what the Health Minister ought to be looking at is banning the non-smokers from where the smokers hang out.
Smokers cannot help being popular and it is quite certain that our Health Minister is jealous. So too are all who support her.
Us smokers are special. We cannot help being what we are.

Pio, is this article trying to ignite a fire from all that smoke? I'm itching to spray kerosene over your loose points and going after it with my verbose blow torch.
a stinker of an article
written by JL, April 25, 2008
this article smells very much like the person who wrote it. A stinking smoker with a hint of 2 Tala CCK cologne....like the Bill proposes, it must be done away with, because you know, EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!!

your assumed popularity is only your nose stuck up your behind, cos you love the smell of it so much you refuse to have it any other way...........just like a dog with it's head between it's legs. Cos it can!!!
Health vs Adult
written by eyeaye, April 25, 2008
Pio must understand that the smoking ban is about the public health and not the right of adult smokers. The "public health" in this case includes all smokers - adult or child - and everyone around them. After all, God did not provide us with a body chimney
