Back to School In Samoa

Back To The Classrooms for these St Jospeh's College Students As we recuperate from the end of yet another holiday season, students from across the country are once again back in the classrooms to begin another academic year. Despite the rainy weather, the smiling faces of the students Newsline spoke to was evidence that they are indeed ready to hit the school books again. “I am very excited to be back at school,” said one eager male sixth former, “I will be sitting PSSC this year, and I aim to pass all my subjects.” The majority of the College students had similar aspirations, with students sitting School Certificate hoping to pass and make it to Form 6, and students sitting Pacific Senior School Certificate saying they hope to make it to the University Preparatory Year, (UPY). A Year 10 student from St. Mary’s College also expressed her happiness that school has started. “The holidays were a lot of time to think about what I want to do in school. I hope I get really good grades this year,” she says. Most private schools and church schools began yesterday and the day before however, government schools do not start until next week.
