His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Masiofo Filifilia with their special visitors from NZ


More than 40 visiting college students and teachers from New Zealand received a rare treat this week, when they were met and greeted the cultural way at the official residence of the Head of State at Vailele on Monday.
The visit was highlighted by His Highness, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Masiofo
Filifilia, spending time with their guests, after the cultural formalities of an ava ceremony.
“This is definitely the highlight for us, “ Mrs. Jennie Tapu, the Head of Department of the Samoan language teaching said.
“All these kids have seen of His Highness is a photo of him on my wall, but now they get to see and meet him in person.”






The students are a combined selection of Samoan students from the All Girls McCauley
High School in Otahuhu and the co-ed Aurere College at Mangere and Papatoetoe.
‘These kids are 3rd generation Samoans and the trip here is a chance to experience the real culture because this is where it all started – this is the real thing.
“Meeting up with the Head of State is awesome because he is the father of the country.”
The visitors arrived in Apia last Thursday for a stay of up to White Sunday where the
teachers are eager for them to experience the special event in
Samoa.
The group have been visiting several sites in Apia and “ are very excited about riding in
our Samoan busses.” Aurere College is a Catholic School wheres McCauley is now an ontegrated high school with the New Zealand Government involved alongside the Catholic church in this once private school .
