Two of the ten winners of Digicel’s Reggae Tour Promotion, who will be attending one of the world’s best Raggae Bands, UB40 in New Zealand this month, were overly ecstatic when the news of their win reached them.
Jack Junior Roberts and Roneel Rajeev Reedy have never been to New Zealand before and are excited about going there for the first time, thanks to Digicel’s Raggae Tour Promotion.
Mr Roberts, a 20 year old student from Tuaefu, says the thought of winning was beyond his wildest dreams.
“I really didn’t expect this,” he said. “I can not even begin to explain how happy I am right now.”
Mr Roberts is also the youngest winner, and explains that he only topped up his phone with $10 credit once.
“I only did it once; it was just a matter of luck,” A jovial Mr Roberts lamented.
He said he is looking forward to seeing UB40 perform live.
“I’m a huge fan of UB40,” Mr Roberts said, “so am really looking forward to going over.”
Meanwhile, Mr Reddy was equally thrilled about the joy of watching UB40 live.
A merchandiser originally from Fiji, Mr Reddy said this would add on to the good memories of Samoa he had with him.
He said that a friend told him that he had won after he (friend) saw his name on the SBC Lali program.
Mr Reddy works for Colgate-Palmolive Company and is a post paid customer with Digicel.
He said he paid his bill before the 20th of January making him eligible for the draw.
“It was unexpected, but I am very happy to have won,” Mr Reddy told this reporter. “It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for me.”
He said he’s really eager to see these reggae bands perform live because he has only heard them on CDs and in MTV’s.
“I enjoy reggae and I really want to see UB40 live in concert.”
Marketing Manager of Digicel, Mahendra Mahimkar, says each winner receives a return ticket, Apia/Auckland/Apia, accommodation, meals, transportation, Reggae Concert Ticket, a UB40 CD and all travel expenses paid for by Digicel.
