Famed Samoan singer and songwriter Faanana Jerome Grey is not afraid that his recently release album, the Jerome Grey trio may be viewed as a political statement.
The album, which has a song titled RHD/LHD makes a mockery of the switch proposal by the Government and likens the notion to the actions of George Bush.
The song goes on to suggest that switching sides is like siding with the devil and that the hardships that come with the switch are not worth all the frustrations.
During a Press Conference last week Faanana was asked as to why he wrote the song: “I said to myself, why change now, why change our lives from something we are so used to. Our country, this is another burden. There is no need,” he said.
This singer and songwriter said he wrote the song on good grounds, that he has traveled extensively to countries to drive either on the left or on the right.
“Growing up in Samoa and going to Europe and New Zealand, I always wonder how they do it; I still cannot drive in those countries in those days when I went., I was scared. I knew what it was like before I sang that song,” he said.
However Faanana reiterated that it is not meant to be a harsh statement: “It comes to me because usually I spin the humor out of it.”
In the song the singer suggests that it is better for Samoa to return to the basics, of using the horse, or better yet the foot mobile. “If not, then the bicycle,” he said with a chuckle.
The trip said it is a light hearted approach to the issue because as they understood that it is a frustrating topic in Samoa.
“I am not afraid that this song is a political statement,” Faanana said.

I can't belive what the Government is trying to do or to prove. Why change something if is not broken? We have got some excellent advise from the New Zealand Transport Adviser, so we need to think about he said. I know one of the main reason for this change is because majority of our relatives are in Aus & NZ. Cost of living oversease is rising every year, so getting a decent vechicle is not easy.
WHY CHANGE, I LOVE MY COUNTRY (BEAUTIFUL SAMOA) AS IT IS. GOD BLESS.
