Jasmine Sailau Schwenke has turned to the internet to seek sponsorship for her quest to become the next Miss Teuila later this year Jasmine Sailau Schwenke has created her own Myspace site through which she will be promoting her sponsorship driveIn her sponsorship letter Jasmine Sailau makes the following appeal: Talofa, My name is Jasmine Sailau Schwenke, but I have always been called SAILAU throughout my life by everyone except my school teachers. I am a contestant for the 2008 Miss Samoa USA Pageant, which will be held July 26, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am 17 years-old right now and I’m probably one of the youngest contestants. I will be 18 in June, which is the minimum age to enter the July 26 pageant.
The experiences I have had in my life, however, place me far beyond my years. I was born in Laie, Hawaii, and lived there until I was five when my family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I pretty much grew up.
I am the daughter of Reg and Elizabeth “Nana” Lefagaoali’i Ho Ching Schwenke. I have very close ties to my family, but especially to my mother, who passed away about 20 months ago – after battling Carcinosarcoma, a rare cancer found in her uterus.
I am looking for sponsors to help one of my dreams become a reality. Whatever you can provide would be most appreciated; whether it is money, materials, service, labor or anything else. Time is short and I need the money as soon as possible to pay for the preparation of expensive costumes, dresses and accessories for the fast-approaching pageant, which apparently will include contestants from other parts of the U.S. Mainland, Hawaii and Alaska.
Along with the support of my family, I am asking for your support as well. I need to raise close to $5,000 to cover all the costs of the one-of-a-kind costumes, dresses, accessories and other related expenses.
Participating in this pageant has helped to bring my immediate and extended family together again and we are working together as a team. I am truly grateful for the love and support they have shown me. I hope to make them proud. I am representing a strong extended family which includes the Schwenke, Ho Ching, Soliai, Scanlan, Leauanae, Tofilau and Tugaga aiga lineages. There’s probably more I don’t even know about.
I am especially proud to wear the banner of MISS TUPUOALI’I to honor my mother and grandmother, Talaitupu Soliai Ho Ching, who also passed away last October. My organizing committee, TUPUOALI’I, is named it in their honor and incorporates the last part of my grandmother’s first name (Talaitupu) and the last part of my mother’s name (Lefagaoali’i).
My various sponsorship categories are:
PLATINUM – $1,000 and above
GOLD – $500 TO $999
SILVER – $250 to $499
BRONZE – $100 to $249
COPPER – $50 to $99
As one of my sponsors, you will be recognized by name during the Pageant, prominently on my web site and in my daily BLOG. If I am crowned Miss Samoa USA 2008, I will be competing in Apia, Samoa, at the prestigious Miss Teuila Pageant, with Miss Samoa winners from both Samoa’s and New Zealand and Australia. If I am fortunate enough to win that prestigious title, I will be representing Samoa at the Miss South Pacific Pageant. I would greatly appreciate any contribution you could provide.
