Vaniah Toloa does it Again! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Meghan Bonin
Friday, 06 July 2007

Barely a couple of months from the success and great review’s of his first album launch, Tukua, the well known musician Vaniah Toloa is already reaping the great success from his second album “E le galo oe” which he released in June last month.

Recording for “E le galo oe” was all done at Keila Records with the help of his long-term colleague Victor Kiel.

A daily observation from everyday life and experiences has been the greatest inspiration for the lyrics to his music “I feel that the issues I relate to through my lyrics are the same issues happening all over the country, therefore I reveal it in my songs” says Vaniah.

From great collaboration with his first album reaching audiences in Pagopago, Tokelau and New Zealand, he is optimistic and excited to see the same results for his newly released hit album, Vaniah says.

Vaniah will be travelling to Pago today, to perform and host his first concert to promote his second album.

The Backstreet Boys and Nsync [Two local dancing groups] are most fortunate to accompany Vaniah on the trip and to perform at the upcoming concert.

The concert will be held at Kanana Fou stadium on Thursday and Friday next week. After his concert in Pago, Vaniah is also hoping to host another concert in Savai’i for his album.

Despite the fact that Vaniah is now considered a celebrity figure he still maintains that he is still the same person.

“I don’t consider people to be in high positions and low positions, in my eyes everyone is equal” says Vaniah.

Vaniah tributes his new Album to His Highness the late Malietoa Tanumafili II. “Dedicated to the Head of State and to all our beloved grandmothers and grandfathers that has gone before us. Let us not forget their smiles, and more important the wise words that have led us to where we are today” are just some of the inspirational words from Vaniah.

Vaniah says, his success comes from knowing and meeting the right people but mostly because of his passion and love for music.

Vaniah wishes to continue his music profession here in Samoa, and to help promote the Pacific with his music.

Horizons look bright and promising for the rising star who has already been nominated for the Pacific Music awards held in Telstra Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand last May.

Where he was nominated for Best Pacific Song of the Year and Best Album of the Year. This is a great achievement and acknowledgement in my career and it signifies another milestone for my growing musical profession, says Vaniah.

When posting this article the Samoalive Crew has come across a number of Vaniah Toloa's recordings on youtube by his fans. While this is good for the spreading the word about Vaniah's music, all his fans should make an effort to buy his CDs.

An example of youtube recordings:

Faamanuia lle Atua
written by Dorothy Mariner, December 11, 2007
It's a blessing to see you and you're sister sing together, and it's and honor to see how respectful you are, and the way your songs are, that you honor your parents. Keep on going forward and don't let anybody or anything stop you from being positive and pressing on for the blessings, that God had already line up for you and you're family. Me and my husband have 9kids of our own and adopted 3kids from my husbands sister that passed in Samoa, and I really would love them to be like you and your sisiter, your songs are effective their lifes, thank you so much, and may the Lord bless your family more and more abundantly. Keep up the good work, it really influence all of our lifes.
Luv always the Sulu Family.

Talofa,

We're late in hearing your music, yet blessed that we are sharing it with our loved ones.

We especially love your song "Tukua". I saw a brief translation of this song, and I would like to say; that for a song that sings about an "Orphan awakening in a strange place and longing to fly across the ocean" you brought all of Polynesia to you. Your music transcends to all Polynesian culture, no matter what island/country we are from we all feel an ancient connection to your music. It has a common tribal and mezmerizing sound that we can all relate to. You and your sister have the perfect combination of vocals!

Thank you for sharing your passion with us here in Compton and Lynwood California!

I thought I would drop a line after an experience I had in the ER 2 nights ago. ...It was a packed night and I was there with my mom waiting to be seen, and you were on TV with your sister singing a beautiful song. Everyone in there I believe were just mesmerized and glued to the screen when I looked around. It was unusually quiet ( I had been in and out of the ER with my elderly parents the last few weeks), and your music was sooo soothing that when it finally ended, it was like turning a switch. It went from silence to noisy and business as usual *lol*. I've never heard your music before till that night, so I've become a fan. And needless to say, so is my mom. God BLess
