A 31 year old man, reportedly from Faleasi’u, died from serious head injuries at the Tupua Tamasese Hospital on Saturday, after a fight outside the Grabbers Nightclub last week.
The deceased was allegedly involved in a fight in front of the popular nightclub on Thursday night and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
He died on Saturday.
Police are now on the hunt for the people involved and are calling for any information from the public to help with their investigation.
There have been several incidents of violence in the past where people have been either injured or died along the popular strip of nightclubs, only a few hundred meters from Police headquarters.
Police have also declared the area a risk zone from purse snatchers, following several complaints from members of the public who were victims.

Recently my family were in Samoa for a funeral and one night after a family meeting around midnight, my husband and I were driving home with our two young daughters. We had the shock of our lives that night. We almost hit a drunken couple (young man and woman) who crossed the road half way and suddenly in front of Grabbers nightclub. They stood in the middle of the road and cuddled as if they were in their own backyard. It was quite obvious that they were very drunk and/or maybe too high to even notice they were in the middle of the road!. Thanks God my husband was not driving fast then and he stopped just before we hit them. Only when people on the side of the road called out to them to move, did they break up their embrace and moved aside for us to continue. I tell this story to shed more light to the increasing problems arising from these clubs in Apia and the disgusting behaviours of our young people or clubgoers these days. I don't blame the Apia mayor calling for these nightclubs to close down. Far too much rude and unacceptable(to our Samoan cultures) behaviours are seen around these clubs and this particular area of Apia. And moreover, people are getting hurt, injured and even killed by either beatings/fightings or run down by passing cars on the main road. I call for more tight police security around these clubs. Apia villagers should push further for the idea of relocating all these nightclubs to a non-residential area for the safety of its young people and for the peace the villagers so dearly need.

cops

aint the clubs fault with all the problems happening at tauese way, police is the problem simple as that they aint doin their job.Couple of years ago they had regular patrols of two in a group walking up and down beach road and problems were minimal once that stopped all hell broke loose, drugs, prostitution, vandalism, brawls assaults even tourists getting run over resulting in death. If anyone is to blame starts at the top with the minister of police, commisioner right down to those crooked octopus fe'es at crabbers.
