GOTCHA : Let’s see your license ….your car is not registered, why?

Roads in Apia have been crawling with police and their roadblocks since the start of the week, one would think there is a political coup on.
But no it is not. It is that time of the year  again when the police spreads the net to catch out all unregistered vehicles.
It does not matter whether it is a right or a left hand driven car.
The men in blue pulls over to the side any car that does not sport a registration sticker on the windscreen.
The exercise is done every year and hundreds are caught out all the time as if they did not know about the registration deadline. This year is no exception.
The testing facilities of the Ministry of Transport at Vaitele is again chokker with sad faced drivers or owners, standing in long lines to have their registrations processed.
They do so knowing that they will be paying court fines later.

Registration
written by lomi, April 04, 2008
This is crazy, Samoa having all of their vehicles registered at the end of the year. This means a new vehicle brought to Samoa in October is required to be registered when arrived and again two months later to start the new year ( Backward). Registration are also too expensive. Samoan people can not afford it. Again, the government are depending on relatives in foreign land to supply this fee. So... if I get this right, Samoa wants its people to progress, their families sends them cars with hoped that will do. Samoa expects them (Samoa) to register them but can't afford them. Now what? (HELP). Bad leaders, bad economy.

I went and got me a temp license to drive in Samoa, I paid a fee and I was given a reciept. No picture ID or other document to show proof that I was giving a real name (Backward). When the cops their wave you down, look the other way and keep driving. They will never run you down, not with those sandles smilies/smiley.gifp Don't let me give anyone bad ideas.
