SPG Missing Mattresses Materialises

Several hundred mattresses reported missing by the South Pacific Games Authority, are starting to reappear, as police investigations gets underway this week. The Police spokesman, Assistant Police Commissioner, Papali’i Li’o Masepa’u , did not have the count of mattresses recovered at the time he was asked. “I don’t have the numbers with me right now, but several have been turned in to us,” he said. The publicity generated widely by the local media of the missing mattresses and the launching of police investigations, is making the recovery work easier. “Since the media became involved, we are starting to see people suddenly appear to return the missing mattresses,” Asst. Commissioner Papali’i noted. The mattresses were used by athletes and officials at the Games Village during the South Pacific Games and were meant to be auctioned off to the general public. There were no charges filed at the time of the writing of this story, and it is unclear at this stage if any will be made for those who have returned the SPG property.
