Toleafoa Fears Worst Still Ahead For RHD Switch PDF Print E-mail

The proposed bill to switch the side of the road may have been passed and turned into law, the convener of People Against Switching Sides (PASS) Toleafoa Toailoa Solomona continues to fight on.
“There is still a pending court case, and we (PASS) will continue pursuing it to wherever it will take us,” says Toleafoa.
Toleafoa confirmed that the first hearing will take place in July this year (2008) on the Attorney Generals Strike Out Motion.
He remains adamant that the strike out motion will not succeed.
As for the PASS campaign, since the law is already passed there is not much left that PASS can do.
“This was the most important phase and easiest part for the government. Passing the law was nothing to the government because they already had the numbers in Parliament.
However PASS will continue with the court case, we are aware of the limits and we are not in any way inciting violence.
We hope that the court action we are taking will persevere and that the court will see the logic in what PASS is trying to do.”
Toleafoa adds that the worst is yet to come.
“They (government) are as yet to face the real music when the switch takes place, when accidents occurs, damages to properties only then will the government be at its greatest exposure with the people.
This is when the government will have to deal directly with the people.”
Toleafoa believes that there is still a long way for the switch to go.
“In my reckoning there is still a lot to do to make this switch a reality.”

I personally denied the idea of switching the cars.Ok if thats wot the Prime Minister idea....Why not do a voting 4 the people of Samoa.Who wants to go ahead and who wants to remain as it is...2 people against the 250.000 well that is not on....I can't understand how the leader @ the moment wants 2 satisfy the needs of his family hey...wot about the people of Samoa they crying out 4 help...Buses trucks business with hiring vehicle how they can afford 2 get new vehicles.Almost vehicles @ Samoa are the latest @ i reckon Samoa people driving better cars than the Samoan people outside...Old bomb @ wreckage cars they are driving overseas...Australia cars & New Zealand cars are the expensive vehicles on earth,China are the cheapest and besides they are LHD so as Samoa @ the moment...Chinese government are the gr8t help into our country, they do so much for us,so why not continuing that relationship keep it alive by buying vehicles frm China. If thats the case the Prime Minister still insist.. ok then get the Goverment to get all new vehicles to replace peoples cars @ the moment...25.000vehicles in Samoa and thats wot fairness is....I am very sad for the Samoa people and the way the government stuffs them around c'mmon guys tis is a wake up call...There will b lots of accident @ not enough Funeral parlour @ the moment...Do something please.Didn't u know that we are the 1st country in the world to do stupid thing like this.Shame on us.....I LOVE MY PEOPLE & PROUD OF THEM...

Move on ahead people, RHD has been passed and signed off - its now should be put to rest. I'm amazed at how people can't embrace change, change is good, it might be hard at first but it's part of life, let's move forward. Toleafoa, Can you honestly tell me that our people are too stupid to drive on the roads once it's switched around? Give our people some credit, I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this. When you travel around the world and have to drive on the other side of the road that you're not used to, trust me it's a piece of cake, be adventurous and try and have fun with it, after it's your life and your brother's life in the next car that you should be mindful of. Look forward to the future, and come up with suggestions or trainings that would prevent accidents instead of going on and on at how people are going to get killed on the roads. Those people shouldn't be behind the wheels if they're that confused, scared. PLEASE MOVE ON TO SOME HAPPY TOPICS!!! RHD is sooooo boring and old already!

My hat goes out to Toleafoa Toailoa for his effort, his courage and also his commitment to the people of samoa. It's true that the worst is yet to come to our people and our government, our people will pay the price for the lost of lives into accidents and confusions on the road. Our people had been living and been driving like this for the last past few decades and for the other reader that said to stop talking about it it's the law, well it's not a law unless the head of state signs it to become a law or shall I used the term we used in america "VETO" so think about it before you jump into conclusion.
