His Excellency, Australian High Commissioner, Matt Anderson

The Australian High Commissioner to Samoa, Honorable Matt Anderson has really enjoyed his first year in Samoa.
“My first year here has been remarkably rewarding, more so than any other posting that I have been assigned to,” says Anderson.
He explains that Samoa is a “spectacularly beautiful” place to live and the safest of the other countries he has had to serve in.
“I worked in South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Cambodia and many other places, but Samoa has really been the best place so far.”
When asked about how difficult the transition was for himself and his family, he adamantly says that it was not difficult at all.
“My wife and three children are loving it here. The community here is so helping and loving, we enjoy the culture and learning the language so much too.”
He says that 2007 was a particularly busy year for Samoa, making their stay so much more exciting.
“There was so much going on the past twelve months, and Samoa has been the focus of the Pacific Region because of the South Pacific Games, which was a very exciting time for the country.”
“Samoa portrayed such a positive image of the Pacific Region to the rest of the world.”
He compliments Samoa for hosting such a superb event, seeing 4000 athletes from around the region coming together in the spirit of sports.
However, the highlight of his year was when the young lady who was the star of the opening of the South Pacific Games, Rachael Mualia sang to his daughters at the resident of His Highness the Head of State, Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi.
“It was really one of those moments that I will never forget; I will certainly remember it forever.”
