Supporters of the Government’s Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) are being called in for the celebration of the political party’s 28th Anniversary and Annual General Meeting, at the Mulinu’u Headquarters, on Friday.
An HRPP spokesman, estimates between 500 - 1000 party followers will turn up from all over the country to celebrate the occasion, and to hear what the Government has in store for the New Year.
“This is an annual event for the party, where the Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, will set out the future plans by Government for 2008,” Deputy Speaker and HRPP Whip, MP La'auli Polataivao Fosi, explained.
Public notices have been sent out, inviting members to attend.
The scheduling of the HRPP’s birthday party, comes only a weekend before the big protest march on Monday 17 December, against the controversial Government’s road switch policy.
“The Prime Minister will address the issue because it is one that is of public interest at the moment, and has coincided with our annual celebration,” MP La'auli added.
“This is also a good opportunity for Government to hear what the supporters and others in the country have to say about it.
“The discussions will be open to everyone to have their say on the issue”
No special invitation however has been extended to the organisers of the “People against Side Switch, (PASS)” protest march, to attend.
“The Chairman, Toleafoa Solomona, is free to be there, if he wants to speak on the issue, it is an open forum so everyone is free to have their say.”
