The furor of the Right Hand Drive that drove thousands of protesters to the streets, and wave off 2007 in controversial fashion, was and continues to remain an unsolved mystery in Samoa.
Why switch to Right Hand Drive vehicles? What is behind the need to change?
Herein lies the unknown that became the subject of so many speculations and still on going, of the past few months.
More serious is the threat of public opinion generating more havoc when 2008 wobbles into full stride.

RHD took Samoa by storm in the ebbing tide of 2007. The holiday season induced a pause that will spring again to life, as that of an incoming tide, when Parliament is called to Mulinu’u for their first session of 2008.
Where and how the debate ends, if it does end, is the fate that the RHD controversy has in store for Samoa at the start of the New Year.
January and February are the most cyclone prone months for Samoa, and only a real one will effectively delay the inevitable rage of public opinion over the RHD debate.
The man at the centre of the whole controversy is the Prime Minister himself, Tuilaepa, Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi.
His inability so far to satisfy the country’s curiosity is baffling. Transparency and good governance was his call cry from the start.
Friends and foes alike reacted accordingly and rallied Samoa behind his leadership. Until the RHD came along
Where this big mystery will lead the country, is a mystery wrapped up inside a mystery.
With PM Tuilaepa as the person central to all this RHD inspired intrigue he is the rightful choice for the 2007 “ Mystery Man Of The Year”
