Although the US Primaries result in American Samoa came out in favour of Hillary Clinton, the Samoalivenews poll of at least 200 visitors has shown Obama having an edge over Clinton this week When the Samoalivenews poll started Hillary Clinton was leading for the most of the time. However in the last two weeks, Obama has moved ahead of Clinton.

The results of the USA primaries this week will be crucial in the decision whether the Democrats will have Clinton or Obama as their Presidential candidate later this year

Watching the results of the US primaries has become a popular past time in Samoa with the direct telecasts on cable TV and local TV stations world news coverage

On the party front, a recent Washington Post-ABC survey during January/February 2008 shows the Democrats as preferred party to rule

Demoncratic here they come!
written by George Tumau, February 19, 2008
Hillary good luck, you got an uphill battle. I don't know if America is ready for a women in office let alone the dynasty of two families, the Bush and Clinton in Washington. A combine of 20 years and not counting senior bush under Reagan.

Its time for change. Obama? NOT!! Good looking and sweet talks does not create new jobs or fight terrorist. This meauli has not been tested and is unknown. Nice won't cut ice.

By the way, November is a long way yet. So whatever choice the democratic has by then, its already a loose loose battle. Unlike Samoan election where the matais vote with their fagu vailima. People in the US vote with their wallets.

The two most serious questions for this coming election is terror and economy. Hillary has a slight edge on Osama in the econmy because of her husband Bill succes battle in fight inflations. But the two have no guts or experience against terrist. Oh did I said Osama? I'm sorry did I offend any muslim in the house?

In conclution, the south is not ready for a meauli or a women to be in office. Oh yeah, popularity is good exposure if you got millions of $$$$. And if your party is a spending machine and have Hollywood and the media as their friends. Then you are only as good as a falling star. Nothing made in Hollywood last a long time.

Last election John Kerry was in the same situation. About this time he was ahead, the media and hollywood put him there. NOT the people. You see, new york and California and other big cities are being control by liberal media. They don't think for themselves. This influence, is how the world and Samoa sees America. Through the eyes of the camera. JFK was one of the most likeable president in the US history. Take away the camera and he would have been just another ordinary president.

Macain is a soldier to fight terror, but can he pull the US out of recession? Just like any other elections not much to choose from. So maybe just sit around the tanoa bowl and drink some ava Samoa.

Osama=UNTESTED AND unknown. Smooth talk and charming personallity are always scary. It can turn into an ugly divorce. too good to be true.

HiLLARY= too macho, besides she already had 8 years running washington while Bill was too busy on other things...Monicaaaa.

Macain=He can fight a war but can he fight inflation?

Huchkabee= Too religious for many maybe. But he can play the base. Some are alergic to bees, but they do produce sweet honey. He sounds like Reagan but can he deliver the goods. Another black horse in the race.

Make your pick peopl. For me, I'll stay home and watch the NFL play offs the end the year.
Whats your point bro !
written by TMO, February 19, 2008
Hey George you're all over the place with your comments.
Take a stand or make a point but dont go shooting everyone down then leave. Whats your point bro ?
What's my point?
written by George Tumau, February 20, 2008
OK! My point is simple, I don't agree with RHD. There is not much of a choice in the US election. I just don't trust politicians. I don't shoot people down, I only speak my mind out loud and I do pray for baby miracle. I love my cold Vailima bottle and I did stay at the Holiday Inn. There you go bro IS THAT UNDERSTOOD ENOUGH 4 YOU...

iA KOE FAASAU SESI FAGU MALULU.

Wake up American Samoan Tumau
written by Proud Samoan/African American/CAL, USA, February 20, 2008
Firstly Tumau, get a grip, your spelling and punctuality would indicate you're not only illiterate but also out of touch with American social, political and economic realities. Please listen and check out whats happening on a broader scale before making ignorant and embarrassing comments. America might not be ready for either a female president or an African American, political correctness for your inappropriate referencing of "Thing Black". Best you continue your football viewing until you improve your awareness of American life and familiarize yourself with the consensus and preference for real leadership, no matter the GENDER or RACE !! Better still go back to your Coconut Fale Samoa !!

I feel you Tumau. You make some funny comments. So who cares??? The only problem I have is with this paper. Why are we talking about Obama and Clintion? Are we running out of issues to talk about... Common.!!!!!! This Obama and Clintion does not concern the islands. But its okay... I can see how other samoans put down other samoans. I think Misiluki Sua is right. Chinese they help each other. Samoans when one try to climb, the other will pull him/her down.. Peace and Peace

Peace
stop brainwashing everyone
written by shaz, February 20, 2008
kalofa e ia Boy George,
you stop brain washing everyone with your empty judments...or might as well just keep it to yourself coz Obama is going to be the next president... Oh did you get me??? OBAMA is sitting on your heads right now smilies/grin.gif

Did you say Hillary is a macho??? oh God, you need to get some specs and look more closely to Hillary's moody face everytime she loses a primary. Sometimes she cries in public...is that the kind of president you wanna see??? well only if you are a poof then of course you deserve her as your beauty queen.
I dont want the president of the US to be crying when attacked by leaders of other super powers. I can imagine herself breaking down in the first few days when pressured on several issues.

And Obama?? yeah, he might not have the many years of experience like the Clintons, but hes a good talker and a peace maker. America needs a cool headed man at the helm to cool down the house. Only then can real negotiations and peaceful solutions can achieve.
Oh and yeah. bring home the troops....enough damage done.
Go OBAMA
Is me is finking!
written by George Tumau, February 20, 2008
I got the grip and yes my Igilisi is not veli good. But that doesn't mean I can not speak my mind out loud. Just to let you know that most Americans are ignorant when it comes to their own politics. If you feel so embarras for me, then please don't. Cause I am a free man living in a free country.

Secondly Sam/Afri from Cali, political correctness started in the US. I was born and raised in Samoa. Never went through segragation, never experience racist and never was force to sit in the back of a bus. Therefore I have no fear of man and no victim mentality and I'm happily living under my fale samoa, drinking my vailima and waiting for a fish to pull my fishing line. No stress, no bills and no worries.

What bout you, live in some low income housing waiting for the government free hand outs and always get offended when some white guy says the N word. Waiting for a chance to sue someone. Get over it. You can not live in the past. People call me the N word when I'm in the US. So please don't feel sorry for yourself and don't live a victims mentality.

If you have Samoan blood then aua le fefe, pe maasiasi. Samoans are free people, better yet you are livng in the land of the brave.

Thirdly, I won't take back what I said about both party candidtes. I would love for anyone to win, To me it does not matter the race or gender. As long as they have my values. Practically, Hillary will do a better job than Osama cause she has the record to prove it. Obama does not have much record to prove he can run the country.

Am I clueless on American politics? let me see, The stimulus package sign by Bush last few weeks was hail by Obama that it was his idea. duh! Is like Al Core saying that he invented the internet. If there was any Afri/Am I would vote for, it would be Powel anytime because he has my values and he can fight terror. And he has the scarce to prove it. For Obama its just the good looks and sweet talk. Now is that not too political for you.

Majority of those voting for Obama are are older women. I don't know man, maybe it was valentine week or maybe it was the viagra effect. But come November it will be a different story. People will vote with their wallets more that just their emotions.

The only chance for the democratic to have a shot is for both Clinton and Hillary to take office as Pres and Vice Pres.

So to sum it up, I'm am NOT a racist and Im NOT an anti feminist. I'm pro value and pro life which none of the two have any records to show it.

No offense, I speak what I see. Sometimes I wonder if Hillary and Osama are in November since you don't hear much about Mcain and Huckabee on the media circus. I bet you most of your political analysis comes from entertainment.(hollywood)

So I'll go back to my open and free fale Samoa and you go back to your ghetto and lock your self in so no one will try break in. Now which one is the land of the free?

RHD vs American politics
written by TMO, February 20, 2008
Mr George, you are now starting to be very funny !! I did not know there was a connection between the RHD controversy in Samoa and American politics ?!!

I think maybe you stayed at the Holiday Inn late Saturday night a little too long bro ?

Wake up and pick a topic then stay with it !!
We'll see
written by Luasene, February 20, 2008
So much for land of the free and equality when no woman nor an African/American as won the presidency yet. Anyway as George puts it. Most of Americans are ignorant of their own politics and such a comment that Obama is better because he's a smooth talker... ha ha! You want a smooth talker as your president??? Sounds like George Clooney could have won hands down if he ran for presidency! And like one political analyst put it... when it comes down to it Americans are not ready for anything different. In the end they will most likely vote for the white male because that's all they know and McCain fits that bill. But personally I hope Hillary Clinton wins for all women. Obama has not taken a strong stand on much at all. And I just saw on the news that he's been using another politician's words for his campaign!!! What a joke they can't even think of anything original for his campaign. As awesome as it is that he's not the usual white man, he's still a man. I hope Hillary kicks butt this year but who knows with the Americanos.
In any case we have our own political problems on the home front to deal with, like our PM who's losing his marbles by changing the road codes with no logical explanation, raising taxes, water and electricity rates and not forgetting the land bill they're trying to implement which takes the land from our people. Ia keep the discussion going. Interesting points shown here.
