Claims by the Government weekly newspaper, Savali,  that the overwhelming majority of Samoa is supporting the proposed road side switch is being challenged by PASS, People Against Switching Sides.
Protest leader,  Lawyer Toailoa Toleafoa Solomona, says that PASS is going to have a public consultation in Savaii, and find out whether the majority of people there support the side switch or not.
“On the 23rd of February we will be having a meeting in Savaii, and on this day we will get the real reaction on whether the ‘overwhelming majority’ really do support the switch as shown by the Savali campaign.
Featured in this campaign were high chiefs and matais of villages that stressed their support the switch.
The petitions committee is now calling on the public to make their submissions and views on why they oppose the switch.
Toleafoa calls on those who oppose the switch to make use of the public consultation and utilize this available avenue and take full advantage of it.
He urges members of the public to go to the legislation office and make their submissions.
“We can arrange an appointment for you, we want you to have your say on why you think the switch should not happen.”
He reminds the public and businesses that are afraid, not to be.
“People should not be afraid of a government that they themselves voted for. We need to break away from this mentality.”

If the Government don't listen to the people who voted them in...then remove them.

If the government don't listen to the people who voted them in then remove them from office. Or better off, each district matais take a stand before its too late. Nothing wrong with the LHD vehicles you got from the USA, they are of top quality. If you get the ones straight from Japan and China, you will get the worse of the worse. Believe me, I lived in japan for 9 years and their vehicles will not even allow in the USA without major changes to meet US requirements. Take a stand before its too late!!!
Get the facts

Why is it that everyone thinks that all our cars come from America. Has anyone looked around lately and seen that most of the cars on our roads are new and come from local dealers. Has anyone really looked at the prices freight from the US and New Zealand as compared to what can be purchased locally? I think you may be surprised. And cut the BS about our tala buying more NZD and AUD than USD - have you really looked at the exchange rate 2.55 for USD and 2.30 for AUD - hardly a big difference there and soon there won't be any difference at all.
If the govt. hadn't interfered by trying to change the side of the road, Samoa would have been on track to fully sustain the MV industry in Samoa within in 5 years with well maintained, newer, better qualilty, less fuel consumptive vehicles that have all parts available with in Samoa. Think of how easy it would be for aiga to send the same amount of money they would spend on an 8 year old vehicle freight duty (if you don't have a cuzzie bro in the customs dept) to Samoa and get a vehicle that is only 3 years old - fuel efficient and has parts available here in Samoa. You overseas may think we are driving pieces of junk but it is actually the other way around more often now. Come visit us and see - and to top if off these vehicles will filter down the car chain and make there way into the used car market and would be more accessabile and sensible to buy than sending some odd bod from NZ. And don't even go there with the Jap imports - are the aigas in NZ going to have the ability to import direct from Japan to their aiga in Samoa? Or is it more likely that they would rather send us their cast offs and upgrade their cars?
BY THE WAY - CHINA IS LHD NOT RHD. AND BY THE WAY AGAIN - YOU CAN NOT IMPORT A CAR INTO SAMOA THAT IS MORE THAN 8 YEARS OLD - AND BY THE WAY SOME MORE - YOU CAN STILL IMPORT LHD.
