Tupu Fua, squad member for BadmintonSince the age of 19, Mr. Tupu Fua [now 27 year old] from Vaitele has been tirelessly preparing for the up coming South Pacific Games.
He is a promising star, who also represented Samoa in the Oceania Games held in 1990 where he won first place for mix doubles.

His determination and hard work was finally paid off when his named was called out for the final training squad for SPG and he wants nothing more then to victoriously win nothing but Gold Medals
“I want only the best for my beloved Samoa and I will stop at nothing to make sure that all the Gold medals remain here in Samoa after SPG”.
He believes that the strongest opposition now would be from both the New Caledonians and Fijian participants.
He is currently under going immense training at Apia Samoa Sports Complex, gym from 5-8pm everyday.
This does not include his individual training he does everyday, such as morning jogs and his training he does at the Park.
When asked if he was pleased with Apia Park’s gym, facilities and services, he was more then happy to say, “The facilities now are so much better compared to previous years, and that all the equipment needed for the game is always available to them no matter what”.
However, aside from Badminton equipment and facilities, he did mention that there is no coach training them for the up coming games, and they are left to train themselves.
Nevertheless, despite this minor set back the squad members remain optimistic and faithful to their training.
When asked if he was ready for the SPG challenge, he was adamant to say, “Judging from all my hard training I feel I am both physically and mentally ready for challenge ahead” says Tupu.
Apart from Badminton Tupu enjoys other sports such as, Table Tennis, Paddling and rugby.
His advice to other aspiring stars in Badminton is, “It is wise to keep in mind that neither success nor failure is ever final and you must commit yourself whole heartedly to the sport” says Tupu.
