Andrew Ah Liki with his Oceania Medal.Fifteen year old Andrew Ah Liki is more than an Archer, he is one of the  youngest athletes representing Samoa in the South Pacific Games, an Oceania archer medalist and also the leader of the Samoa College Battle of the Minds winning quiz team last year.

“No pain, no gain,” was the powerful message from a loyal and supportive father to his son, who is one of our youngest and most promising Archery players.

Andrew Ah Liki already an archery medal winner at age fifteen and one of the top quiz players in last years Battle of the Minds, is aiming for Gold at this year's South Pacific games.

According to the Competition Manager Maletino Teofilo, Andrew is one of the best medal prospects representing Samoa in the upcoming South Pacific Games.

This fifteen year old who is currently attending Samoa College, said he has been preparing for this since the beginning of last year and wants nothing more than to win gold for Samoa and especially to get his name on Samoa’s Medallist Board.

He said his training schedule is very tight and getting more intense as the SPG draws near.

Recently, Andrew  participated in the Oceania games and went home with two silver medals.

He participated in the Annual New Zealand Nationals last year, where he came in fifth, and he was the first archery participant from Samoa.

He was also fortunate to participate in the Qualifying Round Tahiti.

“At the moment I feel I am still a bit shaken up about the upcoming games but I know that with a bit more preparation in regards to my trainings, come the South Pacific Games I’ll be more than ready to represent my beloved country to the best of my abilities,” he said.

Andrew feels that the best motivation and encouragement he is receiving now is from his family, especially his father, and friends and that, according to him, is all he needs to be ready.

Andrew wishes to send out a big Fa’afetai to all his supporters who have contributed so much to his great performance.

Future plans for this Archery champion is to make sure he continues his passion for the sport up to the Olympics sometime in the future.

He advises young aspiring archers to take up a sport you are passionate about.
