A gold medal prospect Luana Milroy a 15 year old from Robert Louis Secondary School says: “I’m aiming to get a gold medal for Samoa, so bring it”.
She is a dedicated sailor who is able to sail three times a week, two hours a day and is capable of completing it.
Every week she has fitness tests and frequents the gym.
Now that the South Pacific Games is drawing closer, she is sacrificing her spare time and other hobbies to concentrate on preparations.
She says in the beginning she was not a good sailor, “But believing in yourself will lead you to a good conclusion” Ms Milroy said.
Her most recent outing was sailing in a couple of tournaments in New Zealand in the beginning of this year, which included the Lazar Nationals.
She competed in two different tournaments, which are the Regatta Competition and the Lazar Nationals.
“It was a really good experience for me as a young competitor, able to read up on the game, and able to compete with other good sailors around the world,” said Ms Milroy.
The young sailing talent is determined to do well and earn gold for Samoa.
“I will be committed to the game, practice hard and even harder, like what they say, ‘the more you train the more you gain”
Luana is a part of the squad training regularly at Aggie’s Resort and sometimes Mulinuu.
Her advice to the youngsters of Samoa is “Believe in yourself, nothing will be possible if you don’t believe in what you do, and also you have to consider yourself special”
