When the goal of 50 gold mdeals was first announced by the Minister of the SPGA, Hon Faumuina Liuga, a number of sceptics questioned how the goal could be attained given that Samoa had only 18 gold from the 2003 South Pacifici Games. Howevermas the medal tally was finalised this afternoon, it became clear that the Minister was on target with his goal if only the power lifting brought in the expected 8 gold medals instead of 1 yesterday. As of today, Samoa has 43 gold and was ranked third behind New Caledonia and Tahiti.Click here to view the details of the medal won each country. The closing ceremony today has been postponed to 8pm this evening to accommodate the delays in the holding of the athletic conpetitions
