The opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijng Olympics early Friday morning is to be beamed into the homes around Samoa by TV3 and SQB TV starting 12 midnight today. Both local TV stations are promoting a 24 hour coverage of the Olympics as from tonight.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics is promising to have the most comprehensive TV coverage for Samoa ever as the two privately owned local TV stations battle it out for the TV viewers and commercial sponsors. Those who have Sky Pacific cable TV will also have access to the Fiji TV 20 hour coverage being promoted.

Team Samoa is expected to be led by Ele Opeloge into the Stadium this morning for the opening ceremony.

We have to commend the services of our TV stations in broadcasting live the Beijing Olympics opening. Our people deserve it. I personally wish I am in Samoa at this time to enjoy a neutral viewing of the opening ceremony. Here in the UK, I am tired of the way in which the BBC and other news media organisations represent Beijing's preparations for the games. To me personally, its getting irritated. Its getting racial and unfair for the lovely people of China. In the BBC news, the spirit of fellowship in sports is overtaken by the socio-political issues of human rights, air pollution, and global politics. Of course it indicates the level of freedom that the media have in this country. But as a fellowship of sportsmen and women, the representation of the Beijing Olympics in this country is no longer interesting and enjoyable as entertainment and sport.
Enjoy watching the opening ceremonies Samoa!!
I agree with you Anaua

I was also very disturbed by BBC Ones commentators of the Olympic opening ceremony, all they spoke about was the socio-political 'crisis' in China and did not seem to enjoy the beautiful spectical of the opening ceremony. I will be waiting to see if London 2012 could acctually produce a games that is even half as good as the Chinese. I wish we were able to tune into Samoa's TV3 or SBQ TV so we didnt have to listen to the negative and borderline racist comments of BBC one televison broadcasting...These are the times I really miss Samoa.... Well God bless our Olympic team! I am sure we wont get any coverage of the events Samoans are in through Britains BBC One, but good luck to all our members and we hope you will do the best you can...

God Bless! With love from Britain....
Stunning China: One world, One dream

Ni hao and kudos to the host nation China,

sorry to hear of the UK boy's BBC coverage of the Olympics opening. Hopefully things will get better on your side.
As for what we have witnessed during the opening celebrations via SQB, China has set a very high standard for other ceremonies to match. The fireworks displays, choreography to uniforms and cultural performances to technological showcases were perfectly trained and delivered. Words are not enough to express how China did that opening piece.
Personally, I believe this is the best ever opening ceremony to be put up by any host nation. I hope we will see more of these world class performances from China in days to come and the closing ceremony as well.
Lastly, I wish all our athletes the very best. May you achieve at least a medal or surpassing personal bests, Otherwise living the slogan of the games, One World and One Dream is just as signifficant as participating itself by forging new relationships and display the qualities of good sportsmanship.

God bless!
The Most beautiful Olympics opening if ever I saw one.

Let's give China much credit for such a beautiful Opening of the Olympics. One World and One Dream. God bless all the many diverse cultures of the world. I hope someday we can all live in peace without the politics of man made governments. With all the hardship that goes on today, and the wars between nations, its good to see that the Olympics brings all the diverse cultures of the world together to play.
