LIFTING OPELOGE'S : (l-r) Mary, Niusila and Ele Opeloge More shine is added this week to the star status of Samoa’s golden girl of weightlifting. Ele Opeloge. She is Samoa’s Sportsperson of the Year 2007 and best female athlete as well. Yonger sister Mary Opeloge, also a weightlifter, is best young female athlete of the year. Aunese Cureen, claimed best male athlete of the year, on the strength of a clean gold medal sweep in the 800m, 1500, 300m at the South Pacific Games. Best Coach of the Year went to Fuimaono Titi Tafua, National Rugby 7’s coach until he resigned last year. The team, he put together however was also acknowledged as the best team of 2007.
