Manu Samoa 7s campaign marred by injury

Media Release : Samoa’s IRB rugby 7s campaign got off to an inauspicious start in Dubai. Injuries to key players Lolo Lui and Apelu Fa’aiuga contributed to the team’s quarter final exit from the Cup competition. New coach Galumalemana R. Moors, expressed disappointment but says the team is determined to improve at the next leg of the circuit at George. Reports from Dubai has it that rising sevens star Lui sustained a knee injury while Faai’uga broke a toe (metacarpal). They will be replaced by Siaosi Akerei and Morgan Salesa. They will play prominent roles as captain Uale Mai and Mikaele Pesamino are carrying minor injuries. Both replacement players are not new to the IRB circuit and have just returned from the Pacific 7s tournament in PNG as part of Samoa’s Development squad.
