You left out Henry Tuilagi why?

written by Tui, May 26, 2008
Afai ua le pikia loga uiga e le'i lava le fit... Injured too much and waste of time and money for the SRU.
only the strongest survive whether we like it or not, the traditional names in the rugby circles cannot guarantee a place in the squad coz its getting more and more competitive every year. Hundreds of players vie for a place so its a do or die battle. Lucky for Henry he had already tried several times and made it, unfortunately this time. So pls accept whatever has been done
He will sure get another opportunity if someone gets injured or something but then again, its another whole different story
all the best for the current squad

As you can now see they made a mistake...and have now corrected it. Which shouldnt have happened in the first place but at least its been put right.

As for all your comments...all i can say is IN YOU FACE ...

Not a bad looking squad. Very strong forward pack especially in the lock, loose forward department. Is Alesana Tuilagi comming in to the squad after the English Premiership final??

The only weakness i see is maybe at number 10. Maybe they'll start with Eliota and hopefully give Lui a run as well. I mean Roger Warren is not up to international standards... We've seen that many times before.

Anyways go the MANU!!

WE HAVE NO CHANCE
written by Robbie Deans, May 29, 2008
Nah, jokes. This team looks decent. As for the person saying that Roger Warren is not up to international standard, what happened when we put Loki Chricton - who is of "international standard" - against Tonga in the world cup? Yes, we do not need reminders. Roger Warren might not be a flawless first five, but he was the top point scorer in the 2008 Pacific Cup which shows form. Further, he has had experience at a high level, namely with one of the Top French Club, Tolouse. Roger also has long range kicks (something we were ever so obviously lacking in the world cup), and reliable goal shots (leave the drop goals for Lolo).
If he does not perform there is always Lolo Lui. No more Sapolu @ First-five, unless we want to die again, like we did against South Africa and England when we used him; nevertheless, a classy player with ball in hand.
Henry Tuilagi is a huge bonus for Manu, remember his bulldozing runs @ South Africa in 2007? I can see Henry at 8, Alafoti at 7 and Alapasa at 6. At number 9 would have to be Uale Mai, just edging Notise Tuafao.
Backline would be hard to pick, a lot of good players. 10.Roger Warren, 11.Ofisa Treviranus, 12.Eliota-Fuimaono-Sapolu, 13.Gasolo Salima, 14.David Lemi, 15.Gavin Williams

Like i said Roger Warren is over rated! He didn't even make the cut with Toulouse that's why he came back home.

I'd rather much have Sapolu there at least he can create things and is a accomplished premier player in the UK unlike Warren. A big difference from playing in the PC to the prmiership rugby in the UK.

This would be my team for the first game against Fiji.

1. Muliufi Salanoa
2. Mahonri Schwalger
3. Cencus Johnstone
4. Kane Thompson
5. Filipo Levi
6. Daniel Leo
7. Alafoti Faosiliva
8. Henry Tuilagi
9. Uale Mai
10. Lolo Lui
11. David Lemi
12. Eliota Sapolu
13. Gasolo Salima
14. Henry Fa'afili
15. Gavin Williams

16. Loleni Tafunai
17. Hiro Tea
18. Chad Slade
19. Jo Tekori
20. Notise Tauafao
21. Roger Warren
22. Ofisa Trevaranus

Thanks Ron,
I believe it would be a big mistake to put Lolo Lui at first five before using Roger Warren or Neli Sasulu, both of whom specialise in this position. Sure Lui is talented, but we need a player with lots of experience to guide the team. Remember, Lui is currently a full-time sevens player; bringing him into such a crucial role with fathomable form, would spell disaster. I would be comfortable to see him at Fullback, with his sevens experience he wouldn't have much trouble spotting gaps or booting it to safety. Lastly, why would you put Sapolu at 10 when he plays his rugby at centre? I think putting players out of position is one of the reasons we got destroyed at the world cup.

Anyway, here's my team:

1. Muliufi Salanoa
2. Mahonri Schwalger
3. CJ
4. Chad Slade
5. Filipo Levi
6. Alapasa Cordtz
7. Alafoti Fa'osiliva
8. Henry Tuilagi

9. Uale Mai
10. Rogger Warren
11. Ofisa Treviranus
12. Sapolu
13. Gasolo Salima
14. David Lemi
15. Gavin Williams

Reserves 16.Notise Tauafao 17.Lolo Lui 18.Pale Toelupe 19.Hiroshi Tea 20.Taligatuli Moala 21.Daniel Leo 22.Raymond Stowers
