Tuala Lepale Niko Palamo has two enthusiastic and willing individuals to help bear his workload as the new Head Coach for Manu Samoa.
Paepaetele Stan Toomalatai and Faavesi Selefuti are the new Assistant Coaches for Manu Samoa.
According to the CEO of the Samoa Rugby Union Sua Peter Schuster, both are signed under a two year term, and if they continue to meet the criteria, their contracts will be extended.
The two were selected based on playing and coaching experience and they also possess different coaching qualifications.
Paepaetele was the technical advisor of the Samoa Rugby Union under 18, and the Samoa School Boys Under 19, World Cup Group B Championship in South Africa, Technical Advisor.
He is currently employed by the Samoa Rugby Union, High Performance Unit Alafua, and PRC Coach and LTC Coach.
He holds high coaching qualifications and played for the Manu Samoa side from 1985 to 1995.
He expressed his happiness that he has been selected and says he will do his best for Samoan rugby.
“I hope that my contribution to will help the Manu Samoa to develop and become better, and I will do my best in assisting Tuala,” says Paepaetele.
Faavesi Selefuti Patu also had similar aspirations.
He was previously the coach of the Upolu Samoa team that won the PRC Cup Championship, as well as Assistant Coach for Manu Samoa from 1992-1993.
He also coached the U21s to Australia and the President XV that defeated the Manu Samoa in 1994.
Patu like Paepaetele was equally thrilled, and looks forward to working in cooperation with Tuala and Paepaetele in coaching the Manu Samoa side.
Tuala Niko Palamo also commented on the selection and says he is very fortunate to have some talented individuals to help him.
“I consider them my co coaches. We will work together to develop rugby in Samoa and do our best for the country’s national team Manu Samoa,” concluded Tuala.
