Report from Beijing - Report No.1

Talofa lava Samoa!! Samoa’s 2008 Olympic Team is proud to announce that eight of our athletes and officials arrived safely into Beijing this morning; Chef de Mission: Seb Kohlhase; Weightlifting: Ele Opeloge & Coach Jerry Wallwork; Kayaking: Rudolf Berking-Williams & Coach David Yung; Archery: Mua’asa Joseph Walter; Boxing: Coach Seve Chan Chui, and our Boxer Farani Tavui just arrived in safely from Hong Kong. As soon as the team arrived they were brought straight to the village welcome centre to validate their accreditation before and entering the village. On arrival in the village the team met for a short briefing then left for a well deserved breakfast in the well stocked dining hall. This afternoon Mua’asa is going to test out the Olympic Green Archery Training Field, Ele is at the Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics Gymnasium training, Rudolf will train at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, and Farani will go to the Beijing Workers' Gymnasium for his session. The 2008 Samoa Olympic Team is serious about representing our country, Samoa, very well in every aspect of our stay here in Beijing.
