Samoan rugby league stars have come togther to salvage the Toa Samoa chances to play in the Rugby League World Cup

Panthers forwards Tony and Frank Puletua will spearhead a star-studded Samoa team determined to end the World Cup aspirations of their coach's United States team in England.

Having declared their allegiances to Samoa, the Puletuas will line up alongside Nigel Vagana, Ali Lauitiiti, Willie Talau, Kylie and Phil Leuluai and Hutch Maiava in a World Cup qualifying match at Widnes on November 9 against a Tomahawks side coached by Elliott and Castleford mentor Terry Matterson.

After losing 18-10 to Tonga last year, Samoa must now win through the repechage rounds to claim the 10th and final place in the tournament and have called on the big names to bolster the John Ackland-coached team that features five players from the local competition in Apia.

David Solomona, Joe Vagana, Francis Meli and Iafeta Paleaasina have also pledged their loyalty.
