The Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) is offering the chance of a lifetime to two young Samoan youths to travel to the Beijing Olympics.
Applications are now being accepted and will close on the 29th of February for youths aged 16 to 18 years old and are interested in attending the Beijing Youth Camp.
Janita Adams from SASNOC says that there are strict criteria for those who are able to apply.
“They must be a Samoan Citizen, meet the age requirements and be involved in a sport.”
However, she states that any youth who meets the criteria should apply because this will be an amazing trip that they may never be able to experience again.
“It is an incredible trip, once in a life time opportunity; you are not always going to be in that age group.”
Ms. Adams describes the trip as amazing because of the different aspects of the Olympics that the two selected youths will witness.
They include the opening ceremony, Olympic sports, torch relay and sight seeing.

“They will also meet a whole bunch of children from around the world.”
It is highly important that the children have good understanding and command of the English language because of the different nationalities which will be mixed up during the trip.
As part of their application, the youths will have to write an essay and have an interview with the panel that will be choosing the lucky female and male youths.
“This is to ensure they are capable in English,” says Ms. Adams.
The youths will be staying at the Beijing 101 Middle School which is only 10km from the Olympic Stadiums and Arena’s.
All expenses are covered by the Beijing Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee Olympic Solidairty.
Ms. Adams encourages any youth who is interested and meets the criteria to apply for the holiday of their dreams.
