About 7560 people travelled to Samoa on Air New Zealand flights during the month of December.
This comes from figures given by the General Manager of Air New Zealand, Ricky McFall.
McFall stated that the companies’ aircrafts flew forty-two flights for the duration of the month of December with each plane holding an average of 180 passengers.
This is an extremely busy time for Air New Zealand, explained McFall, extra flights were added from both Australia and New Zealand to ‘cater for the demand’ from both these countries during this period.

McFall also added that he believes the majority of these travellers have a connection with Samoa and most come back to visit friends and family.
He says the majority comes to spend Christmas with their relatives or for family reunions.
Air New Zealand will also have additional flights going back to New Zealand and Australia this month as the visitors who arrived at the end of last year begin to leave Samoa.
After that visitors into Samoa begin to slow down, explained McFall.
Once mid February hits not a great deal of travellers come to Samoa.
“I guess they all need to get back to work and save some money so they can come back next year,” justified Mc Fall.
The aircrafts that were used during this busy period included the 767, A320 and the 777 which is of similar size to the 747 which was used to transport New Zealanders to Samoa for the Head of States funeral last year.
