The captain of the only cruise vessel to dock at the Salelologa wharf in Savaii, Clipper Odyssey, is singing the praises of the newest port, helping to expand the tourism industry in Samoa.

This was after the Samoa Port Authority, SPA, laid out the red carpet for the 110 travellers who made the trip on the luxury boat last week.

The passengers were greeted by a dancing group hired by SPA to provide a welcoming entertainment.

The vessel’s captain and their guests were duly impressed, “because throughout the start of their visit to other ports in the Pacific no other country has given their ship dance entertainment on arrival to Port with such a warm welcome.”

A safety drill by the port staff of SPA and the Savaii Fire Services was also carried out on the wharf to further impress the visitors.

The cruise vessel is likely to schedule two visits to Salelologa in May, if the recommendation by the ship’s captain to the company bosses is approved.

The trip was only the second by the vessel so far this year to the big island.

Accompanying the vessel to Salelologa was SPA Harbour Master Captain Pagamalie Tepatasi Risale, while Tugboat Atafa assisted with the berthing.
