I hate AFL

I spent a good 10 years in Western Australia, having to put up with this bollocks of a sport. The sum of my experience has left me with an eternal hatred of Channel 7 for showing the rugby tests delayed and very late at night or cutting it out altogether during the years they had the free-to-air rugby coverage in Australia.

As for the sport itself, the only thing I like about it is when people get a cheap-shot from the side. John Worsfold (West Coast Eagles) was good at this. He could've been a good flank forward maybe.

AFL is like Rugby 7's but with much more kicking skills and no off-side. Fast running strong athletes do best and Samoa has many of those. See this article from Melbourne's The Age newspaper: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/tough-love-samoa-dives-into-football/2008/05/10/1210131331508.html - ruckrover

I was raised in Australia yet i STILL do not understand the concept of AFL...especially the scoring, it's confusing to me but I'll tell you one thing, if samoans start playing this professionally (even semi-professionally) I'll try to understand it and back our boys if they ever get into the game of AFL. I still love Rugby and League though.

I think what the AFL big wigs are looking for are polynesians who can make as big an impact they have on rugby and league, they are looking for the Sonny Bill Williams, Tana Umagas, Israel Folaus of AFL and I'd certainly like to see it. AFL is a force to be reckoned with, I was watching 60 minutes a few weeks ago about the battle between AFL & League...in summary AFL looked like it was alot more popular to the little kids and even to the average joe watching a game on the telly. I think samoans should get into playing this game, it could only take us further. - Daff

hopefully samoa will sponge this sport since most hamo's are such natural fanatics are volley and could incorporate skills from that into afl .. im not a fan of afl but its a sport that kids in samoa can really take advantage of instead of the usual rugby union or rugby league :-) - Pua
