This ban reminds me of the Turkey tails ban. If Samoa is banning food items associated with health problems, then I think complete banning of cigarettes should have been done a long ago... If we are really that health conscious, But hey lets not forget the tax from cigarettes... and dont get me wrong, Im a smoker by the way and Ive been trying to quit many many times, I just wish if I wake up one day in a place without cigarettes and smokers... my plight will be over... My worst fears now is are they going to ban my favourite MUTTON FLAPS ( because of high fat content), life will be miserable without it, I hope Not,... Im already a victim of the RHD ban, I wont be able to sell my car at a reasonable price, and I will never be able to resell it again... And this is something I will take to all the voting days of my life and to my grave.

PLUS: who is going to enforce the Ban, what are the consequences of not abiding?? just a thought - samoatulai

Actually we all know that smoking is a health dangerous problem in our country, so it should stop in case its effects become increases. Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, breathing diseases, shorten the life expectancy, as well as pregnancy difficulties. If smoking doesn`t consider seriously, our future generation will be affects by the addictive of smoking. It should despise the sense that it more benefits and its and source of income, but consider that unfore seen and the serious effects of smoking. Income that gain from having a cigarette industry doesn`t cover or recover a health dangerous effects. Obviously smoking should be banned. - Vader Gasderin

And it's about time

I'm glad about the new legislation, it's about time the whole world not on Samoa, realises that smoking is not COOL anymore like it was back in the 60's and 70's, because we now know that smoking does in fact kill and cause disastrous illness to a person. Gone are the days when smoking used to be advertised as popular and cool, now are the days where Samoa needs to follow suit of Australia and strongly advertise what smoking really does do to a persons health and lifestyle. Good on you Samoa !!! - Daff
